A pocket full of Liberty
You paint the town with style
Be what the hell you want to be
Welcome to the artist’s mile

A pocket full of Liberty You paint the town with style Be what the hell you want to be Welcome to the artist’s mile These shots were taken at the Osheaga festival’s “Block Party” on June 9, 2012 in Montreal. If life passes by in the blink of an eye Then who would you rather be The one on your back staring up at the sky Or the one on the inside rocking with me? This shit is real and we play it for keeps These shots are from late August 2012, on the Plateau and downtown in Montreal. It still occurs to me sometimes how photography has changed even during my short lifetime. There’s a whole new, recent side to developing pictures, a modus operandi that creates moments like this one: a person staring at the back of their camera. Almost as if there was something special there to see. It’s as common a sight these days as people walking alone and talking until you realize they have a phone receiver plugged into their ear. Oh, the times. Two small impressions from Germany, March 2012. These images show the Höchst train station, by Frankfurt, and a log in the fields by Kronberg im Taunus, current hometown of my good friend Marcel and his wonderful girl Britta. These days are sweet memories and remind me of how blessed I am to have the friends I do. Suddenly, the bridge across the river Main is lined with thousands of chains and padlocks. All have names engraved into them, testaments to love and marriage. I’d never seen them on this bridge before. They were added in my absence… And you don’t have to support the idea of marriage to love the beauty this expresses. And we stood and read the names and dates, and thought about all that can last through the years. Do you sometimes wonder how the world looks through the eyes of another being? The perspectives could be quite surprising. One day, a squirrel may sit in his tree, look out at the city and wonder: why do these humans make everything straight, square and grey? |
