The clocks have stopped and the sky is smiling on the yellow-brown leaves that won’t quite start falling, and she leans and she glances all over the plain, and she’s happy and glad: one more day without rain. Just the breezes that touch her hair like lovers and the balance that, right here and now, the world offers.

More material from Hayley’s photo session on October 17th 2010. Sometimes we feel like sleepwalking through our time on Earth. Sometimes we feel like existing where life used to hold our souls in place. We need to wake up. Smell the rain. Feel the touch of the sun on our skins. These were taken in an untrodden side street.

In autumn 2010, a charming and talented young lady found her way to Montreal to gather new experiences. Hayley met me while browsing Craigslist for a computer screen to buy, and stayed in touch for a photo session. This was a sunny Saturday in mid-October. Those blessed fresh days of autumn are fleeting. Here’s a reminder and a fresh set of scenes from stories never written.

Colours and lights danced on their faces like fire. Their dreams had alighted only to pick up their souls and take them any place they fancied.

We didn’t have to walk far to go far with this session. The very streets of Montreal, quelques pas from our place, provided delightful backdrops for our little scenes. This is the red part of it.

This is the black and white part of Laura’s photo session from the heart of fall (or the falling heart?) in 2010. Winter is on our doorstep now, but we have these impressions to keep with us, and the beautiful parts of the cold season to look forward to… Whereever they may be.

Laura’s photo session. These pictures were taken on September 25th 2010 in the streets of Montreal. The height of autumn. Sweet air and remaining warmth. This will stay. This post contains the blue part of the session.

The studio wasn’t furnished. It was alive. Flashes lit up the air, voices chattered, models laughed and mucked about, eyes and cameras on them. Photographer Mark‘s Montreal visit from Atlanta culminated in a lighting workshop. It was November 6th, and he had invited photographers and artists from the entire city.
Backdrops? Simple. White, black. Props? Few. Outside: the street. A flash and umbrella. A softbox. Well-chosen lighting breeds excitement. Vibrancy. Liveliness.
